Japanese K-pop Trainee Under Investigation for Fraud Allegations and Travel Ban

South Korean police have imposed a travel ban on a Japanese trainee who was preparing to debut in a K-pop boy group, following serious fraud allegations.

According to authorities, the trainee allegedly signed contracts with multiple entertainment companies and received financial investments, before disappearing shortly before his planned debut.

He had originally been part of a six-member group that had already filmed a music video and released its first single. However, just two months before debut, he suddenly left the group, citing a breakdown of trust. The group later debuted as five members without him.

Further investigation revealed that he had previously signed with another agency, raising suspicions of “double contracts.” This situation may have caused significant financial losses to several companies, particularly smaller agencies that often struggle to pursue legal action due to high costs and lengthy procedures.

The trainee is currently banned from leaving South Korea while the investigation continues.
