5th-Gen Idol Shocked by U.S. Prices Pretends to Take a Call to Escape an Expensive Restaurant

A 5th-generation idol recently shared a funny and surprising story from his trip to the United States, quickly sparking reactions from fans. Kyehoon, a member of the group KickFlip, opened up about the shock he experienced after discovering just how expensive things can be in America—especially when it comes to dining out.

“Prices in America are no joke”

Kyehoon said: “There were so many things I wanted to do. Wow, but prices in America are no joke. That’s why Donghwa and I ended up buying cheap samgyupsal (pork belly) from the supermarket and grilling it at the hotel. LOL.”

A strategic escape

He also shared a story about their attempt to eat at a Korean barbecue restaurant: “We went to a Korean BBQ place, but they were charging about 60,000 won (around 40 euros) per serving. So I pretended to get a phone call and just walked out. I told Donghwa, ‘Hyung will leave first, just follow me out.’ I acted like I was on the phone saying, ‘Hey bro, long time no see,’ and left. America is just so expensive.”

An anecdote fans find relatable

Fans quickly found the story both hilarious and relatable, with many saying they’ve experienced the same shock over U.S. prices. In the end, Kyehoon seems to have found the most budget-friendly—and creative—solution.
